We rung in the New Year with me getting over the UTI and diarrhea. But all was resolved this week. I even got my drains out on Wednesday, which I am very thankful for even if I slosh a little bit but it is so nice not to have them to drag around. Willard and I went out to lunch at Jakers to celebrate.
I read some good books that I found on Amazon. A real page turner was Perilous and the per-quil Altercation. I got them both for free. Then Parakeet Princes was a fun little book. The book The Frozen Trail is a story about a family in the Willie Handcart Company was a tear jerkier. Old Maid of Honor was fun to read. I have really enjoyed reading on the Kindle. It is so convent to use.
But most of all I have enjoyed reading Daughters in My Kingdom each day. I have gained more of an appreciation of the organization of the Relief Society and of the importance of it in the work to bring His children to Christ. The book has made me contemplate the importance of women in the Kingdom of God. I loved the chapter 7 where they quote Pres. Monson from his talk Charity Never Faileth. He admonishes to Rather than being judgmental and critical of each other .. may we have the pure love of Christ for our fellow travelers in this journey through life. I loved his thought that charity manifests itself when we are tolerant of others and lenient toward their actions, the kind of charity that forgives, the kind of charity that is patient....There is a serious need for the charity that gives attention to those who are unnoticed, hope to those who are discouraged, aid to those who are afflicted. True charity is love in action. The need for charity is everywhere. I hope that I can be more Charitable this coming year.

My days aren't filled with much that is exciting but I am thankful for good friends. Gaylene Steele, one of my oldest and dearest friends. It was from her family that I learned so much. It was good to talk to her and catch up. Then Don called me from Germany on Thursday. I can't believe they will be home this June. I am excite that they are going to visit the place were the Blickenstaff's came from. I hope they can find some original records. Then Bonnie Shelton called me and said that she was going in on Friday for an aerogram. I haven't heard if they found the blockage yet. No one said anything on Facebook. It is amazing what you can find out from a good doctor looking at you. I hope I hear soon.
Today we woke up and it was 59 degrees in our home. Yes, the furnace isn't working.. Thank goodness we have the gas fireplace. I hope it isn't going to be to expensive to fix. I hope this isn't a prelude to what is coming this year.
