Augt 27 to Sept 2

Deborah looks like my mother
Monday I spent time redoing my mantle.  I hung my shadow box over the fireplace and put mementos up that reminded me of people and places where we had such a great time with family.  Then I placed the old bubble picture of my mother and her sister by the door.  I love my living room now because I can look around and feel surrounded by my happy memories and dear ones.  It brings me much  comfort, joy and happiness.   I wanted to make a southwest afghan to go along with my Navaho theme and also I wanted to use the beautiful blue-turquoise yarn that Sheran gave me that she spun.  I love the pattern and I think it really shows off Sheran’s yarn.
My next project

A few other things happened this week Tuesday Tobin, Linda and the boys came over to say good-by.  It was Valen’s birthday and Deborah came just in time so sing a very special happy birthday song.  He is hopes to have his Eagle before he goes to the Jamboree next year.  They are all such great boys. Tobin and Linda have done such a great job.  It was so good to see them.  Deborah ,Willard  and I went to see the surgeon, Dr. Cushman.  He told me that I would be having Chemo first to shrink the tumors and them maybe a mastectomy and then radiation.  He would be putting a port in my chest to the chemo sometime this week.  I was really quite happy with the news because I really didn’t want to do surgery right now.  I thought it was a very good plan. Dr Cushman is really sweet quite man.  Diane Sulsbury has him for her surgeon too.  Then Wednesday evening I had a MRA to make sure there was no more caner in my breast. Then on Thursday, I went to have a CT scan and then a Bone Scan to make sure it hadn't gone anywhere else.   I learned on Friday that all of the tests were negative.  There was no cancer anywhere else in my body. Which was very good news.  Janey, the nurse that is co-coordinating my care told me that next Tuesday the Doctors are meeting to discuss their plan for my treatment then on Thursday I had an appointment to see the oncology doctor and then after that I will have my port put in.

While waiting for me on Wednesday,  Willard went to talk to the financial officers to see if there were any other options that were open to help us financially since I didn’t have any health insurance that would cover this.  At first when he poked his head in there was no one at the desk so he went back and sat down.   After a while he decided to try again.  This time there was someone at the desk and he explained the situation.  The lady there said that there was certainly something she could do for him.  She explained that she had volunteered to help the receptionist for only an hour and she actually worked for the group that over saw the Medicaid program that help people like me.  Only two cancers qualified for immediate assistance and Breast Cancer was one of them.  She quickly got all the forms and we submitted them  We will hear on Wednesday, if we qualify.  Pray for the their acceptance. Only down sided is that when we sell our home all the proceeds with go back to the government.   Sorry kids, there goes your inheritance.

Amber and her guitar
Great family Picture expect for Nephi
Now it is Trenton.  Why is it so hard to get a Family picture?
Saturday we went over to Trenton’s for dinner for his 42nd birthday.   We had a very nice time.  Amber shared with us her artwork.  She has a very nice feel for pen and ink and watercolors.  She also has been learning the guitar off the internet.  She is volunteering with Martha at the human shelter.    Nephi has been earning merit badges.  He has 17 in all and excited about working toward his Eagle.  He loves anything that has to do with computer and robotic.  He is really blooming.  He seems to be able to focus his energy on positive things.  He is so into nutrition and what is good for the body and gives Trenton a bad time about his eating.   He actually enjoyed looking at all of our mission pictures.  He really enjoys learning new things.   Moroni, certainly was a great help.  He shucked the corn and cooked it without complaint and got dinner ready and even cleaned up without being asked.  He evenly didn’t balk when I asked his to delay going over to see his friends so we could take some pictures.  So all in all it was great being there and we really enjoyed visiting with the kids.
On Sunday we heard the saddest news.  Brother Rawley who lives down the street and who is our home teacher was diagnosed with cancer.  It is a type of cancer that is carried through the blood.  The cancer is spread throughout his body.  It will be a miracle if he lives through this.   That is the third person in the ward that has been diagnosed with cancer in the past 6 weeks.
These are tiring times but I am thankful that I have complete trust in the Lord.  He loves me and knows the experiences that I need to round off the edges and make me more humble and pliable.   These experiences are just areas of opportunity to grow
