9/24 to 9/30

Kathy and I
This week i worked on my projects for the auction but I did start exercising using my Wii.   My routine this week was to first exercise, eat breakfast, read scriptures, practice the piano, and then work on my projects.

On Monday there was a little diversion.  I went would to lunch with Kathy Laskowski, a Drectv friend.  It was so fun to catch up.  I was so excited for her because she finally got to meet her little brother.  Her brother was a menopause baby and her alcoholic mother put him up for adoption.  She had found him several years ago but finally he had the courage to meet her and her brother.  She said it was so much fun to have him see how much he looks like the family. It is such a wonderful family story.

After lunch I came home and finished the Temple Envelope and the Moccasin Booties.
Spent all Tuesday on the Irish Rose Booties.
Wednesday I made these cute little Converse Tennis shoes Booties and a pair of little purple slippers.
.

Thursday morning when I took a shower my hair started to come out in handfuls.  I quickly threw on a wig and went to the Humanitarian Day with Diane Salisbury.  Several stakes have gone together and have a day once a month where one can go and do humanitarian projects for the community.  Diane and I worked on coloring pillow cases that are given out at the hospital for sick kids.  We stopped at Hobby Lobby and got some yarn and knitting needles so that I could  make a scarf out of the one of Sashay  yarn Sheran gave me. It is a really quick scarf to knit.  I finished it in 4 hours.

Then I decided to shave my head because hair would just keep falling out all over.  My head actually felt weird.  My scalp sorta of itches.  After I shaved my head, Willard said I looked like Trenton.  Well, there is definitely a resemblance.
Friday, We talked to Joe on Skype. We are really excited because he is going to come here in October.  The kids get a 2 week break and he is going to come west.  Perfect timing to go through the Boise Temple.  We got to talk to Sarah briefly too this week. She has sold her home.  I am so excited for her.    It is such a joy to talk to the kids. We love it when they call because we know they have time to talk to us.   The project for Friday was to  make some BSU things.  So I made a hat and a pair of Tennis Shoe Booties
That evening we had Diane and her husband Richard over for dinner. I fixed some Quinoa.  They both hadn't tasted it and they liked it.  Betty said that was the best for a low car diet. I looked it up on the internet. It said that Quinoa was of great importance in the diet of pre-Columbian Andean civilizations, secondary only to the potato, and was followed in importance by maize. In contemporary times, quinoa has become highly appreciated for its nutritional value, as its protein content is very high (14% by mass), yet not as high as most beans and legumes. Nutritional evaluations of quinoa indicate that it is a source of complete protein.[14][15] Furthermore, it is a good source of dietary fiber and phosphorus and is high in magnesium and iron. Quinoa is also a source of calcium, and thus is useful for vegans and those who are lactose intolerant.[16][17] Quinoa is gluten-free and considered easy to digest. Because of all these characteristics, quinoa is being considered a possible crop in NASA's Controlled Ecological Life Support System for long-duration human occupied spaceflights.  I have found that I can add it to many things to increase the health benefits. Willard will even eat it! Anyway, It was nice to visit with such good friends.
On Saturday I made some more little booties that look like Mary Jane's.  I really like the pattern.  Most of them are 0-3 but the white pair is 3-6 months.
That evening I went to the Women's Conference with Rosalee Hunter.  It was such a nice evening.  They first had a soup and salad dinner.  They had 3 different soups and cake for desert. It was was great to visit with the sisters.  I saw Clarissa Tate, and LaRue Brown from the old 23 Ward.  They had both come to it with their daughters. I couldn't believe it when LaRue said she was 80.  She hasn't aged a  bit.  She looks the same as she did 20 years ago.  I couldn't spot a wrinkle.  I was so good to see her.

The talks were wonderful by the new first Presidency.  Two out of the three had the first name Linda and they looked like they were in their forties. They all gave such comforting talks.  The main theme was that our Heavenly Father and Christ loves us each and knows each of our needs. And Christ took upon him all of our burdens and trials.  He knows our pain and understands it and He will support us through our trials if we will but turn to Him.  The President Eyring gave a wonderful talk.  He told of his daughter who was 6 months pregnant with her third child and she started to hemorrhage.  She called her husband who was 20 min. away and he told her to call 911 and he would meet her at the hospital.  Before she could even call there was a knock on the door and her visiting teaching partner said that she had an impression to come over.  They quickly got to the hospital when her husband arrived at the same time.  They had to do a C section in order to save the life of the mother and baby.  Both came through it.  The baby was 1.5 oz but was breathing.  It was such a touching story and a real testimony how the Lord is aware of our needs and sends his visiting teaching angels to help.  It was a great way to end the week.
