9/10 to 9/16

Ladies at the Luncheon.  Rosalee and Elanor
Melba and Suzzie
Not a real exciting week.  Monday I saw Dr. Cushman and he told me that there was cancer in the lymph node so I will definitely have to have a mastectomy.  Wednesday I went to the Something Special Luncheon before I went to get my first Chemo.  It was nice to be around good friends and have something really good to eat.

Diane and Valdeen
Chemo seemed to take forever.  I got there at 2.00 and had to wait for labs to be done and I slept through waiting there and then about 3.30 they began the infusions.  We were finished by 5:45.  The only effect that I felt was I got really bad gas and couldn't wait to get home and lay down.  Eating crackers really helped.  Then that night Bishop Smith and Brother Fugal stopped in to visit with us.  It was fun to hear from Bishop Smith about his courtship of his new bride.  I am so happy for him.  After a while, John Jeppson came over to.  It was so nice to visit with these priesthood leaders and knowing that they cared enough to come over an visit and that our welfare was a great concern to them

The next day I was just really tired but not nauseated.  Also, I was just very jittery.  I had a hard time focusing on anything.  Diane Sulisbury brought us dinner.  I know Willard was so grateful to have something different to eat.  I really appreciated Diane thoughtfulness.

Friday I was feeling pretty good so we went to Hunter Cross County race.  He didn't push it because his coach wanted him to save it for the big Bob Ferman race next week.  He still did well.  I love watching him race because he just keeps going.

Saturday,  we just laid low.  I was trying to see if resting would help get rid of my jitters because we had to speak on Sunday.
However, Nancy Cotter called and asked if she could bring some KFC.  That was definitely a tender mercy because I had been thinking of how good KFC would taste and boy did it meet up with my expectations.
Well today is my last hair day.  I most likely will not have a very good head of hair next week.  Our home coming talks went OK.  I talked way to long.  I guess the Navajo has rubbed off on me. I just kept going on and on.   I wasn't even nervous.  I think that was a side effects of the chemo. It was hard for me to feel the spirit. Weird!  I did get to sing with the choir which was really nice.  Willard did a nice job. Cracked up the audience with his jokes. He is always the brighter side.  He then spoke at Meadowlake.  It is nice to know that all those kind of assignments are finished for a while. People have been so kind and thoughtful.  I hope I am asked to do something soon, I am really bored.
