Last week on our mission 8/19

Monday we went to see Helen Stephens, (the butterfly lady) in Ogden.  We had such a good visit.   She is still energetic but walks very carefully to avoid falling.  I love her because she is such a great example of what a positive outlook can do for your health and how it blesses others lives.
Helen.
Tuesday, I went to see Dr. Nebiker.  He was a supper doctor.  He gave me the most complete exam I had had in years.  He was also was very direct.  He said he thought the growth was cancer and ordered me a Mammogram and an ultrasound with a fine needle aspiration for Thursday.   As Ben began to ask questions, we checked out insurance.  We found out that not much was covered and turnaround time might be a week.   We called St. Al’s Breast Care Facility and they has some openings  for Monday and Tuesday.  I called to have the order sent to Boise in the morning and it still hadn’t been faxed by the evening.
Wednesday morning I called Boise and they still hadn’t gotten the order.  When I called Layton they said they had just sent it.  So I called back Boise and they said it might take 3 hours to show up in there system.  She agreed to same me some slots because Mondays were gone and they had one slot for the Mammogram on Tuesday and the Ultrasound on Wednesday morning.   She called back and said that that they would be doing both on Tuesday morning because the radiologist had to be there for the ultrasound.   I guess it is sort of like a biopsy.  That appointment set the rest of the weeks schedule.
Thursday, we left with Jacob for Kayenta with the 9 laptops.  It was good to be back in Kayenta.  I do love the area.   We had dinner with the Howards and spent the evening setting up the computers and getting Indexting  and Roots Magic installed on each computer

The weaving piece from Sister Big
Friday in between packing we took Jacob to Navajo Monument.  We were so thankful that we had taken some stuff down when we went to Kaysville because we certainly wouldn’t have had room for it all.  We just barely made it as it was.  That night they threw us a going away party.  It was well attended.  They will come out to anything if it involves food.  We couldn’t believe how generous and kind people were.  Mrs. Whitehair came and brought us two lovely bouquets of flowers.  We both really love her because she has the sweetest spirit and really loves her garden.  She had been quite ill with her muscles and mind.  But she said that gardening has helped heal her.  She is a good Christian lady and her spirit was enjoyed by all.    The Tsosies gave us one of RJ oil paintings of the southwest mountains.  We were very touched with his generous gift.  It will look great above the fireplace.  I just to get it framed.   Sister Big gave me a weaving sculpture.  I had admired it many months ago.  I had been looking for one to buy but small ones ran over $100.  I was so delighted with her gift because I can see how to weave the pattern.  Nelle gave us a mail holder,  Sister Gillmore some bear placemats and some candied Bear Poop.  Sally Singer gave us a dream catcher.  Sister Howard gave me one of her necklaces and a big card with everyone’s signature and a message.   We were very touched by everyone’s love and we were sorry to leave such dear friends.
Our last night turned out to be quite a send off.  About 2 o’clock in the morning we could hear a no. 10 can being kicked around.  Then later some voices.  Willard thought it might be the guy that had came by our trailer earlier in the day looking for handouts.  Then about 4 o’clock we began to heard pounding sounds.  Willard got up and looked out to see if anyone was out there.  He saw some flashlights.  He didn’t know what to do.  I told him to call 911 but he decided to open the back door and yelled out “What are you doing?” I have only heard that voice once before when he yelled at the intruder in San Jose.  I knew he was scared.  Then a voice came back telling him that is was the Holiday’s who were out there chopping and  burning logs in preparation for their daughter, Julies reception that was going to be held that night.  They were going to cook 200 lbs of pork in 2 fire pits. Every 2 hours we heard them chopping the wood.  They had to get the ground around the iron cylinders.  They then wrapped 4lbs of pork in burlap bag and stuck iron baskets that fit into the cylinder.  I am sad that we don’t get to taste it.  I have heard it is the best tasting meat ever.
Evangaline and the special coat she made me

Before we left Saturday , we stopped at Evangaline’s to pick up a coat she had made for me.  She had started it the day before and had worked until 2am to finish it.  That alone would have made it special, but she had used her Nelli’e (Grandmothers) blanket, that she had been saving for a long time, as the lining.  Her grandmother had survived breast cancer and lived a long life.  She wanted to give me something bring me luck.  I was so touched by her act of love.  She is such a dear girl and I have seen her really grow in the past months that I have known her.

Sunday we got home and the house was spotless.  Deborah's cleaning lady did a great job.

The yard  looked terrible but Dan came over and cleaned up the front.  We went out and started to  pick berries and started to attack the mess out in the back.  Oh well it is something to keep us busy.
