24TH WEEK 7/30 to 8/5

This was another full week.

I added these to one wall
Monday, Bill Cly came up and worked on family history. Then Kat came to work on her family history.  They are both trying to get names ready for the temple trip on the 1st of September.   It was fun to have the library busy even though it was suppose to be closed. Brother Gibson brought in the last picture frame for the temple and that finally complete my room.  The frames were to big for the pictures so I made some paper the color I wanted and laid the picture of the temple over the paper which framed it nicely.  Sister Howard is going to paint the mat a beige color.  We both agree the mats are just to white.
The temple pictures

We sent up smoke signals but there was no answer
Tuesday we had a bad storm and the phone and the internet service was down until 3pm.  That night some of the Denneahotso people came to run off their names that they were taking to the temple on Wednesday.  While at the same time Joe Pigman came for the first time to work on his family history.  I had to call Sister Howard to come up and help me because Joe didn't know how to work the computer, but he came with a lot of family information.  Joe is a great guy and has been lest active but since his heart attack decided that he re-evaluate to get his priorities.

Lela, Ruth, Tammy, Albert in the middle and Sally behind Sis Howard
Wednesday we took Elder and Sister Howard and Sally Singer and Lela Chatter to the Montecello temple.  Where we met Elder and Sister Chapman and Ruth Denny and Albert and Tammy Tinhorn from Dennehotso. President Justice, asked those who are planning on getting a temple recommend to go to baptism for the dead first.  It was great.  Willard, Elder Howard and Chapman helped out with the baptism.  Sister Howard and I provided about 21 names for the baptism work.  While they were doing baptism, Sis. Howard and I did Initiatory work for 9 of my ancestors. We all went out to PJ's where they have great food and don't charge the missionaries.  We got back just in enough time for me to go to the evening shift at the library but then we were interrupted by the stake then needed to have a meeting and use the telephone but the only phone that worked in the building is the Family History Center so we were sent home.  Which was just fine because I was tired.

Bobby Singer and Frankie Gilmore
Thursday we went to a meeting with the Kayenta movers and shakers.  Bobby Singer has visited last week to ask us to come to this meeting to give our input.  Bobby Singer and Fankie Gilmore (Bishop Gilmore's brother and ex stake president)  are trying to get ideas from the community and from Northland Pioneer Collage on how to implement college courses in the field of medicine that would be used at the new hospital.  They now have one tecnology building down by the seminary building.  It has state of the art equipment.  They are going to start building another building and they want start and CNA and other programs so that they can education local students so that they can get jobs at the Hospital which should be done in 2 years.  It was great to be a part of a group that was actually planning ahead for the future.  Willard made the comment that if they want to attract people to come here and teach they needed to fix the pothole and remove all the burned out trashy places that are an eye sore.  When he said that everyone started writing his comments down.  I made a suggestion that they need to lobby for instructors that have advanced degrees, that their student loans would be forgiven if they came to teach at the school for a certain amount of years.  They really like that idea.  One of the biggest problems, as Tobin can testify to is that the pay for the instructors who have to have the highest qualifications and be at the top of their field are payed less that a new RN.  Anyway, it was fun to be with such great people who really are looking to help the community.

Friday Kat and I worked on the Kayenta Family News.  Kat really picked up fast how to build the News with Printmaster.  We got it done and then I started on the reports.

She was sporting a new hairstyle. She had her son JR cut her hair.  She said she wanted to that short hair like Becky and me.

Becky still isn't well.  She can to the library and I could hear her chest rattle.  She just isn't getting better.  I am really worried about her.
The photo display in the foyer.

I wrote in my report to the stake president that I felt that the photos display in the foyer is really starting to in pack to ward.  I will see people stop and look at the pictures and spend a good 5 minuets just looking. It really gives a homey feeling to that side of the building.  I am really thankful for those who have shared their photos.
Also it bares mentioning that the Kayenta area had indexed over 14,000 names.  Willard said that Bishop Axline was shocked.  Because he thought they could ever get 10,00 names done.  He was pleasantly surprised.

This is called Church Rock
Kayenta lays at the bottom of the formations
Saturday, we went out to Chilchinbeto to check on my rug.  I was sort of shocked to see the rug that she was weaving for me.  It was only red and white.  In fact, she had run out of white and was using a different kind of white.  It looked patched.  So I told her that it wouldn't do.  I reminded her that it was suppose to be Black, grey, white and red.  So she was going to start on a new one.  I gave her the one ball of white because she had no money to buy anymore yarn.  I told her I would have some more delivered to her this week. So she is going to make me a larger rug and use the yard Sheran spun for the rug.  It is going to be a very special rug once it gets woven.  One the back we  stopped to take some pictures. These pictures were taken from the Chichilbeto side.

Sunday was nice quite day.  We ate over at the Olsen's because the Howard's went to their grand daughters.  As I was settling down to work on this blog a knock was heard.  There was Irene and her son Thomas, they had come to ask for a blessing.  Irene is the one who is Evagiline's aunt and hasn't come to church for years.  But I have had the opportunity to teach her and Evagiline last week.  I think she is beginning feel that she needs to change.  She said that her mind was so cluttered and she wasn't able to focus and after Willard's blessing, she felt her mind was clearer. I hope by the time I go home that she will be coming to church.  We just look for teaching moments and pray that I say the right things.   Thomas is a sweetheart and has such a sweet spirit.  Willard gave him and his brother a couple of white shirts.  I was impressed that he handled them with such care and carefully buttoned and folded them with such reverence.  We told him those were his Sunday shirts for when he is ordained a deacon.  They are such sweet people and just looking for peace.
