Bishop, Nolan James and Willard
I think he should have gotten the award for the best shape of Idaho
Was the pioneer celebration at the school park.  They really have some nice parks here. Nolen James and Jimmy Keith played back ground music.  (I have their CD) Then while they waited for the plated to arrive they had a Fry Bread Competition and Willard participated.  The object is to see who can make the roundest fry bread.  Here Willard is trying hard with the experts of Bishop Gilmore in the back and Brother James.

Here is the Sister Sulleven reading about Maraboots
After we ate then people got up and read the stories of some pioneers.  I found many stories where the natives had helped the Pioneers as they traveled to Salt Lake.  I wrote the stories in first person so the ward members might enjoy them more. Bishop Gilmore was Sagwitch and Dorthea Sullevan was Maraboots one of Elzada's Grandmothers.  People said they really enjoyed the stories.

Wednesday, was really a really great experience.  Evangeline Crank came to the Family History center crying because she found out from her sister's that her husband who had left her,  was running around with her little sister.  I tried to consul and comfort  her.  She went home for a time and then came back and asked if I would teach her about genealogy. So I began giving her the first lesson in the handbook.  I had to read everything since she doesn't read very well.  Then her aunt Irene, came in who she wasn't speaking to, and decided to sit in on the lesson.  She participated and share her experience of finding her lost brother. (When he was a baby his mother took him to the clinic when he was sick.  The people took him away and came back and told the mother that he was dead.  But they really had taken him and had him adopted out  which was a common practice about 40 years ago) The brother put his story in the Navajo Times and was looking for information.  Irene read the story and notice many of the things that he was told matched those things that she had discovered and he looked like the family.  She went down to meet him in Texas and not he is coming to see the family here.  Anyway, as she began to share and as I taught them about the plan of salvation and why temple word was so important they started to talk to one another and by the end of the lessons they were asking when they could come back and learn more. I was excited because Irene lives next to Evaneline and she can help her through these ruff times.

Thursday was another great day.  I got a wonderful letter from Laura.  It is always great to get mail.  Ledra Greenland sent me a package also the other day.  Those kindness are certainly appreciated.  Then later  that evening I had a cookie exchange indexing party.  It actually turned out great.  Sally Singer, Sister Howard and Willard (who has done over 1200 names indexed) indexed.  The Bill Cly and Carol Big and Emily Smallcanyon came to start on their genealogy.  I was so thankful that Sister Olsen was there.  She helped Bill Cly while I help Sister Big.  They were quite excited but the family search web sight was having difficulty so they said they would come back.

Starting on left, Sis Big, Willard and missioners, Sis Howard, Sis Olsen , Bill  and Emily's foot
Friday morning Bill, Carol and Emily came back to start again.  What was funny was that Bill couldn't get registered with a LDS Account.  We couldn't figure out why.  We double checked him membership record, we even called SLC.  Then as we were verifying information, like his birthday, he suddenly remembered that he had seen his birth date as the 16th not the 18th.  After he put in the 16th it went through beautifully.  He got a lot of names prepared to for the temple but the church websight was still having problems.

Emily was excited about learning how to work the computer.  As I understand she had been sick and quite down.  But she was really eager to learn how to input the names.  She really did well and they are all coming back tomorrow.   It is so wonderful to see the miracles that happen to people when they turn their hearts to their fathers.

Later that evening we went out with the Howard's to see a garden. They lived in town but they had put the garden out on a site that was 12miles from town.  The corn had to be replanted but they were getting a lot of zuchinni, and summer squash.

Elder and Sister Olse
Saturday was Carrilynn Cranks laughing party.  This is a traditional party that the person who makes the baby laugh first throws.  As tradition goes they are to have the party soon after the baby laughs.  The mother puts a piece of rock salt and piece of candy in the baby's hand and then helps the baby give it to the guest. as then come through the food line.  The Salt and the candy represents the bitter and sweet things in life, and they have the baby do this so it will not be a stingy person.

Later that night, the Howard's had us over to play Golf and eat 7 layer bean dip

Sunday,  was the normal Sunday except Jean Grayeyes was put in as Primary Pres. in the first ward.  She is a really neat lady and will do a great job.  She will be easy to work with.  Then I found out that Becky McCarty that is one of my assistance is down with pneumonia. She had really had a bad two week, first her daughter Nellie barely escaped death when something fell out of a truck on the highway and came crashing through her windshield and barely missing her.  Then her son got in a bad accident and had to be rushed to Flagstaff.  Now she is sick.  Both those ladies have been through the wringer.  Thank goodness that the Lord is looking out for those women, they certainly deserve it.
