Williams saying goodby |
Monday the 9th we said goodbye to the Williams’. We were all sad to see them leave. Elder Williams had been a Bishop and Sister Williams’ had been in all kinds of leadership roles. They both were such good examples of always thinking of others and doing your best. She left two bags of cloths that she didn’t want anymore. After that we decided to take the fencing over to the Nez and then get the post pounder at the Young’s. Her daughter answered the door and said that her mom had not been feeling well on Sunday and now was gone to Gallop. We then went shopping to get a few things. We really didn’t have room for much because the Williams’ had given us a lot of food. Then the Cranks called and asked if we could lend her sister $20 for gas and she would pay us back on Wednesday. Willard has a soft heart and we gladly helped them out. That afternoon we found out that they were going to close the Employment center here and the Ziegler’s weren’t going to be replaced. So that night Willard called President Justice and asked him if we could move

into the Ziegler’s place. He said that another couple would be coming but he would think about it. That evening I went over the Zeigler to have Elder Ziegler help me fix my old laptop. The Thursday morning I had called the LDS Tech Support team to ask them to help me get on the internet up at the church, the girl had me uninstall a internet driver, and then I couldn’t reinstall it because I couldn’t get to an hard wired right then. So I went to the Zieglers to get his help but he couldn’t get it working either and the LDS Tech person couldn’t help either. Boy, was I frustrated.
Tuesday, I just worked on Primary stuff during the day and took it easy. We did get the little garden behind the Ziegler’s prepared for the berry plants that are coming on Friday. Then Sister Ziegler said that there was Relief Society so we went up to the church. Sister Chapman joined us but no one else showed up. So we had a good time talking.
Wednesday was quite a full day after a few slow days. I decided to make some banana muffins while

Elder hanging out |
Willard went to pick up some manure. I got them in the oven and then someone came to pick up a tiller. Right, when I had gotten it up on his truck the Cranks pulled up. She showed me some Turquoises and earrings that she had made. They were both so beautiful I couldn’t decide, so she made be a great deal and I got both. Then she showed me her family pictures that she got and during the conversation I found out that she didn’t have a good relationship with her mom. I suggested that we use one of the pictures to make her a Mother’s Day Card and after that we made one for her husband’s mother. Just as I was finishing, I remembered the muffins. I ran over expecting them to be burnt to a crisp but they were just really hard. Oh well, I will just have to make them again. After lunch, Willard suggested that we deliver the manure to 2 gardens. So I helped shovel out manure to one sister up on the hill and then He decided that when we go over to Roberta Yanchez that after we spread the manure, we till it. One think I forgot to get was some sunscreen. We spent the next 4 hours preparing the gardens in blowing hard winds which kept us cool but didn’t protect my skin. Our ears, nose and cloths were covered with sand and my arms were burnt. It blew so hard that it knocked the electricity on Main Street. We discovered that when we were going out to dinner because I was too tired to do anything. When we got home the elders came over just to hang out for a bit before their next appointment. I guess since the Williams were gone, we get the privilege of their company. After they left, I fell into bed and greased up my body to

take the heat out of the burn. Willard wasn’t so lucky he had to stay up waiting for the tiller to come back which didn’t arrive until 9.

Practicing on the Flute |
Thursday I got up early to do the washing because the BYU students that are helping with the Johnny Dep movie are staying in the Williams trailer were supposed to come today. I got one load in and then I got side tracked by the faculty management guy. I wanted him to get the door opened in the Family History Center because it was stuck. I wanted to get in so that I could use their internet connection to fix my computer to get the wireless adapter reinstalled. As I was working to get it to a place where I could all the LDS Tech guys, I decided to try to restore it from at past date. It WORKED! I was so happy. It only took me 4 hours to get it working right. While I was there the telephone rang in the Family History Center: it was Family History Support calling about the 2 printers that were sent. I told Sister Hogland, the caller, that we only had one and then I began to ask some questions about the computers because they had only been able to get Family Indexing on one computer. Then she proceeded to ask me a lot of questions. The results were that the center needed “landesk “ , a special program that allows the computers to access many different genealogy programs, the printer needs to be networked to all 3 computers which needs to be networked together. I thanked her and told her I would pass along the information.
I did finally get the wash done and meet the people that were working on the Johnny Depp film. A couple of the fellows played the flute and educated me more on the different types of Native flutes. On his flute the finger holes were closer together and told me that they were made in different keys. I found that mine was in G minor. I need to practice on it.
Friday I got up and made bread for Monday potluck and Low Calorie and sugar banana muffins for Saturday’s dinner. I went up to bake them at the church because the ovens don’t burn. While I was up there waiting for things to cook, I called the Family History Support to find out if the computers that were there in the center could run the “landesk” program. The Tech guy said that one of the computers wasn’t compatible because it needed more RAM and barely had enough GHZ so he said he would send out a refurbished cascading computer. Plus he would send me a form for the Stake President to sign so that they could send us the updated discs that had the landesk program. We needed the window image disk 5.9 and window 7 image disk. He also said that the ward person hadn’t accesses the emails that were sent out which would have helped them keep the library up to date. Then I talked with the tech support to help me get on the Computer. We found that the WFI connection now is working in the Center but not on the other side of the building which needed another access point established.
While all of this was going on, Joe called me on Skype and it was good to talk to him and Catrina and Lilly. Lilly looks so much like Saroja. She is so cute. After talking to him a little later Ben calls on Skype, testing out the system for video conferencing at his school. We were glad to help out. It was good to see him and his fellow workers.
It really started to blow again and was getting cold so we just bundled up and hung on as the trailer rocked. I practiced on the flute, and went up and copied things for primary and information on the berries. We got the raspberries but the strawberries and blackberries aren’t going to be arriving until Monday which is really a bummer. We won’t have them on Monday to take to President Justice.

The Howards |
When we got back the Howards had arrived and were all settled. We had a good time visiting and getting to know them. We went right to bed because we had to get up and go to Tuba City again for Conference the next morning.

The McMurtrey's |
Sunday began out cold but we got a great start. Leila Chatter rode with us and Zieglers took us. We had a great session. It was nice. We heard from the Second counselor, which I hadn’t heard before. He is older that then President Justice and President Waley. But is a very sweet man with a strong testimony. The President Justice got up and spoke and called the stake to action. He said that the stake needed to stop practicing spectator discipleship. He quoted Elder Nielson saying that our faith now will become our posterity later, which is something to contemplate. President Justice is a powerful speaker and doesn’t mince words. He is very concerned about the stake and the inactivity that is on the reservation. He said that they should think that the stake will remain a stake if activity doesn’t increase. It was a good meeting.

Then we went over to the McMurtrey’s for a potluck. It was great to visit and talk together. Then we came home to decompress before we have to go back tomorrow for training.
