I had a full week this week. Monday we went down to Hawks Motors and bought the truck. He did discount it $200 and made us an extra key that cost $70 and a full tank of gas for $60. He also, said he would fix anything that wasn't right with the truck if we found something before our mission. He was really easy to work with and we will probably go back there. We felt we were well taken care of. Then that afternoon we got a letter from the State President extending the call to serve as Church-service missionaries to the Navajo-Hopi Food Production Project. So it is offical we are going on a mission. I am hoping to leave on the 17th so that we can go to the temple in Kaysville on Saturday so that we can leave on the 20th for Tuba City.
Monday evening I put the Subaru on Craig's list but no one called then I open up my email the next morning and there were several email's there saying that they couldn't get through. Well it turned out I typed our phone number wrong. So I corrected it and the phone started to ring soon after. We had it sold by the end of the morning. We sold it for $300 dollars because the guy that bought it was the second guy that looked at it and he as will as the first said there were things wrong with the clutch and other major problems. So we took his offer just to get rid of it. However it was like getting rid of an old friend. We have had that car for 14 years. It had been through 3 teenagers and it looked like it.
On Wednesday we performed for Salmon Creek. This time Justin and Breanna, Nancy's grandchildren performed. Justin on the French Horn and Branna singing. Justin is really good and Breanna has such a gorgeous voice. She really added to the quality of our program. It was our best performance. Then on Thursday we performed at Valley View and only Branna sang with us. I posted her singing Silver Bells on Facebook.
We actually had a rest on Thursday, so I decided to try out my No Knead Crescent Rolls and use only whole wheat flour. I want to find recipes that the women can use the whole wheat flour with and not have to use a bread machine to develop the gluten. When I mixed the dough I did stir it about 2 minuets and let it rise the full 4 hours. To my surprise they turned out beautifully and tasted so good. Of course, I really like the flavor of wheat. Then I made the best chicken soup with my canned chicken and carrots. I just added some celery, our garden onions and some wheat noodles. It was the best Chicken soup I have made. Then that night we went to Nampa to see Nephi and Amber perform in their orchestra.
Then Friday night I went and picked up Maddy to spend the night. I taught her how to make an apron out of a hand towel. She is really quite a good little sewer. Then I showed her how to make a toothbrush rug but then today I found that I told her wrong, so another lesson will have to be taught. I wanted to find something that the women could make that would be helpful for them without having to spend money. I remembered Willard's mother teaching me how to make a toothbrush rug but I had forgotten how. So I am trying to learn because the women can use any material that they have. Even plastic bags. Sister Olsen who it serving there right now, said that some are so poor that they don't even have electricity nor running water. They have to haul their water. I can't believe that people here in America are living in such conditions. So I want to learn how to make an inexpensive rug that they could use. She told me that the women were so eager to learn things. Then for dinner I tried the recipe Killer Nacho's. They were so good. I am going to fix them for the family Christmas party
The next morning we got up Maddy and we all watched the eclipse of the Moon. It was so interesting to watch it and see the earths shadow. Then Maddy helped me make 4 different kinds of cookies for my recital on Monday. She was such a big help and willing to help. She was such a joy to have here.
Saturday we went to Hailey dance recital. She was in the front and really had the attitude in the dance. She loves hip hop and one can certainly tell it. She is a good little dancer. Many commented on how well she had the attitude down. Then that night we took Rosemary Hill to Tyson Griffith reception at the Simplot Performing Art center. Willard drove Rosemary's car because the truck is just to hard for her to get up in. Tyson married a Kaylee Moncur from the Brookhollow Ward, so it was fun to see old friends from the old 23rd ward which is now Brookhollow Ward. It was really a nice reception.
Then for Sacrament meeting I accompanied Nancy who played her harp and Beca Dunkley played the bells. It sounded so good. It was the best we have ever played it.
