This will be my last entry for this year. The last couple of weeks have been hectic as usual. Just trying to keep up and get everything done. Of which I didn't do to well. I was just trying to catch up to all the things that had been put off until I got back.
On Thursday the 15th, I went over and picked up Brittney and took her shopping. It was great fun to take her shopping for her family. She even saw a friend from school and she was so excited. She was thrilled when I took her to Jack-in-the-Box to get her favorite sandwich, a spicy chicken, Then we stopped at a home in our subdivision and stopped in to see an old friend of hers. She had a good visit and I got to know one of our neighbors. She just amazes me. I was taking her home and I turned down the wrong street and she said" That ok, you can just go to the end of the street and turn and it will take you to my house" She knew just right where we were. Then on Saturday I took her to the choir rehearsal to listen to the balance of the instruments to voice. She was a great help.
The choir started out with a Christmas Opener and we added the bells to it. It was going fine until the accompanist turned two pages but we were troopers and kept singing until all of us got on the same page. A triple trio sang "For Unto Us is Born" from Handel's Messiah. It was fantastic. The a young lady Shelai Branch sang " Mary Pondered" It was gorgeous! She has such a pure voice. A couple of other young women played a bell duet and of course the Choir sang a few more numbers that went much better. We also had an instrumental number with a Oboe, Flute, Viola and Cello which was nice. The highlight was the Organ and Piano duet by Mike Young and Elzada Simmons. They played the "Hallelujah Chorus" from the Messiah. It was a thrill to listen to. Mike thought he couldn't do it but I knew he could and he did great! Everyone came through and the spirit was there.
For Meadow Lake , the children sang " This is Christmas" and Shelai and the instruments came. I put in some congregational singing but it needed one more special number so I decided that I would play a piano solo. Since I didn't have to much time to practice it was ok but not one of my better performances.
Then that night I had my piano recital. It was snowing so I was nervous that the Durrant's wouldn't show but they did and it went well. I gave out 4 Excellent Musician Awards to Madison and Ashton Durrant and Savannah Willits and Madeleine Bell. Each had performed a selection from each of the Musical Periods.
Monday night we went to Garren and Hunter's recital. It was fun going to a piano recital just as a listener. Garren played the cello and Hunter the piano. They both did a good job.
Jacob came home on Tuesday with Buck and Brittney from Salt Lake. Brittney went to see an eye specialist about her eyes. She was told that her optic nerve in her left eye was gray and so there might be some sight that might come back but it will take about a year. She sometimes sees shadows but it isn't consistent. The Lord certainly has blessed her. She is going back to school for spring semester which she is excited about. She will just try to take things so that she can graduate with her class.
Thursday we went out shopping and I had decided that I wanted to get a Wii for the fitness. We just don't have room in the house for excises equipment. We called Laura and she told us that they still had a used one and they still had a Wii fit. So we go both with another controller for $217. It was a great buy!. I have really enjoyed working out on it. It is also fun to play the games with the family.
Most of this week I came home early because we are so slow at work. In fact on Friday, I went in at the usual time at 5:45 and they offered greentime at 7:02 which was really nice because I got to do some grocery and extra Christmas shopping without a lot traffic and people. It was nice. I would definitely recommend that to anyone who wants to be the rush.
On Friday night we went over to Betty's for a Christmas party, Andy's parents and sister Cory with her husband Chris was there in addition to Deborah's and Laura's family. We had a good time and eat tons of stuff. I had wrapped presents for everyone, (things that I needed to get rid of) and I read the Mrs. Wright Christmas story. They had fun passing the presents. Then starting with the youngest and going up they each could pick the present they wanted. It was so sweet, Cody choose one of the bags and it was the one Joe wanted and he was really disappointed. So in the end Cody graciously traded. I was so proud of him.
Also we meet Denton Consoliver, a young man that Taylor is going to married on Willard's birthday March 26, 2010 in the Boise Temple. Betty would like them to wait a bit but Taylor knows he is the right one, so why wait. He is 25 and is an awesome young man. He is everything that I would want in a man that would marry Taylor. They have a great future. But it really makes me feel old, having my grand daughter getting married. She then tried on Betty's wedding dress that I made for her. It looked good on her but it has to many stains on it and besides Betty never liked the dress.
Speaking of getting old, Willard lately has been complaining about pains in his chest after activity. It seems to be getting worse. Just last week he was just lightly cleaning up and had to stop because he was having pains. I keep telling to call and get an appointment but he wouldn't listen to me so I called Tobin and told him what was going on. He called him on Friday and ordered for him some nitroglycerin pills. He finally took it seriously but I still called and got him an appointment for Monday.
This year has been an eventful one, with many blessing and trails. But in the end, we are so grateful for the Lords blessings. We acknowledge His hand in all parts of our lives. My goals for next year is to remember to put the Lord first and then, I know everything else will fall into place. I also want to work more on Family History, do more temple work, and be of more service to my family and friends. My challenge is just to keep everything balanced and the best way for me to do that is to live close to the spirit so that I can hear and act on the promptings that are sent. Those are my challenges for the next year.
