This has been a great week with great news and great company.
Monday was a typical disconnect Monday, so I was pretty stressed out by the time I got home. Then Tobin brightened up my day by telling us that he was going to bring the boys down when he came for drill and wanted to know if the boys could stay here. I was thrilled.
Tuesday started out bad but ended up not too bad. That evening the Relief Society had a special program call " What think ye of Christ" There were many great musical numbers. I accompanied and then sang with a group of ladies. They also had women portraying different valiant women who loved the Lord. Deborah was Esther and read her part so dramatically. She has always had such a natural drama gift.
Wednesday was a busy day. Right after work, I went Visiting teaching and then stopped home before going to help out at the primary activity. When I got home Willard said he had some great news. First my friend Bonnie Shelton was in town, but the sad part of the news was that her son Marcus was going in for surgery for a tumor just below his stomach. I talked with her on Friday and she said the cancer was worse than what they thought. The tumor had been blocking his intestine right at the base of his stomach so that is why he has lost so much weight. They had to remove part of his stomach and intestine. They are waiting for the pathology report to see what the next steps should be.

Then Willard told me that Joe had called and said that he wouldn't have to go to Afghanistan. Someone from Andrew's AFB wanted to go. So Joe and one other person from his company isn't going. Which was good because Joe and Catrina got to see their babies for the first time. Now when Joe told Willard that it past right over him but when I heard it, I was so excited that they were expecting twins. I spoke with Catrina and she is feeling a little over whelmed but I know that the Lord provided her with a tender mercy when He arranged for Joe to be home with her.
Thursday I was so tired because I didn't sleep well the night before because I was so excited. I kicked back and taught a make up lesson and then it hit me that night that I had to have three blankets crocheted by October and I had better get working on them. I just hope the Lord will bless my hands. Friday I got on line and found some really nice blanket patterns.
Tobin and the boys showed up around 6 and we had a great time just hanging out. Valin got on

the digital piano and wanted to learn how to play the piano. We didn't quit until after 10 and I had to tell him it was time to go to bed. He was so engrossed in learning the piano. He is such a natural. He naturally plays with curved fingers. He can hear the difference between pounding and playing beautifully. He was so teachable. What a joy to be able to play duets with a person who really is enjoying the experience. He recorded 4 songs and did a great job. I felt bad that I haven't had time to spend with Zane on the piano because I know he is interested to. I really would like some one on one time with them both so I have invited each of them to spend a week with us in the summer. They are such great boys.

Then on Saturday morning I got up and started to work on some family group sheets because Valin wanted to work on his genealogy merit badge and we were going to go to the History Library. In trying to find a death date for Thelma Shortridge , grandpa Shortidge's second wife, I came across a web sight that you can get access to newspaper articles. So I started to search and I found several articles about Vance, grandpa Shortridge's younger brother who was accidentally shot by one of his fiends while they were hunting and some boy scouts ended up saving him. It was a great story.

Tobin went to guard and we first went to the Flower Shop that grandpa Shortridge had built and died in. We then went on to the Boise Temple so that Valin could interview Willard about the role he played in building the temple for his merit badge. Then we went to Betty's to pick up Hunter so he too could go to the Library to work on the same badge. Hunter first had to show us his compressor gut that he made. I was amazed at his talent. He certainly did make an impression on Valen which will be with him for a little while. The boys were

playing around and were experimenting what would happen if they put grass in the barrel and when shot the grass dispersed harmlessly. They stuffed the gun a little more and then they began to run around and Hunter shot Valen in the bum and this time the wad of grass hit him with a vengeance. His backside will be sore for a bit.
We did accomplish the goals that I had set out. We did find an obituary of grandpa, 1920 census record of Thomas Reed Shortridge, so now I have their birthdates and I now know when Thelma died.

We had lunch at Betty's then Hunter came with us and Laura's kids meet us that the Idaho Athletic club and they went for a swim. Then they all came home pizza. Then they went to ABU's to play game and then on to Pogos. They were really tired and it was hard to get them up. But they all got up and we were at church on time.

Then Betty and family and Chuck came over to visit with Tobin and every one had a great time. It was great to have the family over for a visit. I really do have the best kids and grand kids.
