9/2 to 9/8

Life was not to terribly exciting this week.  I did the same old things, worked on finding people to qualify for Temple work, taught lessons and if I was lucky got to spend some time with Jake.  It was good to have him here.  He really helped me out.  My cell phone won't charge so he suggested that I take it down to Bulbs and Batteries, first before I bought a new phone because  it probably was the battery.  I got a new battery and charged it on my charger but it would only charge half ways, so after I got through with the Piano Teachers Workshop on Friday I took it back in.  They used a charger there and it charged beautifully so it was both the battery and the charger. If Jack hadn't been here I would have gotten a new phone and put ourselves in a new commitment.  Not what I want to do.

Our big Sake concert was Wednesday night.  It was a really great concert.  All of the solo acts were top notch.  A wonderful violinist played, then a really professional singer performed. aAlyrical dancer performed to an original song which the composer played on the guitar.  They were awesome.  A piano duet was play with some magnificent pianist and a barber shop quartet.  They were great too.  Then it was our turn.  I wasn't a bit nervous.  The group did very well and there were many who were touched.  I even had to school my emotions because I can't see to play through tears.   One thing that bothered me was that one note was sounding wrong because of where the mic was placed but nobody noticed it except me.  (Nancy since has bought some sound equipment)

This was the best photo.  I gave Willard the new camera to have him take a video of it but something happened and I have a very good recording of it but it is almost all black.  I don't know what happened.  My friend from Curves came and she took a snap shot of us.  I was thankful for that.  I was thankful for good friends that came out and supported me.

What was the best was the 30 piece skate orchestra that played really well and then the stake choir got to sing two songs with them.  It really was a wonderful evening.  I am so grateful for the opportunity to perform with such great people.

Friday, I went to a Piano Teacher Workshop put on by the Boise Tuesday Musical.  It was really great.  I went to a class about how to start teaching Blues,  then one on using technology in teaching.  Kern Holsinger my cousin is developing a program for the I pad to help teachers.

You will be able to just speaking in to the device and it will write out your lesson plans for the kids and right then you can email them.  That would be such a time saver in teaching.  More time for teaching and less time writing.  I really want to get an I pad now.,  It really expanded my mind.  Another class was, about jamming.  Then we got to sit on a master class giving by a professor from Washington.  I learned a lot.  He gave some really neat tips on using the soft pedal  for coloring and using a half pedal in Classical and Baroque music. I really enjoyed seeing old friends when I use to attend the meetings 30 years ago,

Saturday, I went to Choir practice because the choir was singing for Conference today.  Rick Hopkins is our director.  He is the son of Mary Ann and Dale Hopkins who were in most of mom's plays.  I use to babysit him and his sister so that they could go practice their parts.  It really is a small world sometimes.
