Us with Elder Morales |
Monday we said good-by to Brian and Ben and they rode off into the sunrise. Actually they left about 9 and got home about 6. It was great to see someone from the family. Then that night we said good-bye to Elder Moralas. He was so glad to get transferred. He had been here for 6 months and was ready to go.

The Poster , one in each foyer |
Tuesday morning I woke up with the idea of making a Family History News letter and then a poster to go along with it. I was thinks of ways that we can communicating all the things we have going on right now and also forth coming plans. We also wanted to find out how best to serve the people in Kayenta with their family history needs. I plan on doing a newsletter once a month because we plan on adding different classes depending on what the surveys indicates. So the I worked on them all
Tuesday and
Wednesday, for some reason I really felt driven to get them done. I finished them up about 9pm on Wednesday.
Thursday morning I get an email from Sister Olsen wanting pictures and thing that we are doing here in Kayenta for the General Authorities that were coming to Tuba City to check out what we missionaries were doing. So I was able to send out pictures of my poster, newsletter and survey. Sister Olsen was grateful that there were things that she could add to her presentation. Also I spoke with Sister Meyers, in Salt Lake who is in charge of sending the Landesks out. She also had writing to me and told me that the Win7 disk would only work on Win 7 professional and so if we had the home edition the church wouldn't upgrade it. I wrote back and asked her to call me. When she called me she told me that she hadn't receive the fax that Sister Olsen had sent the previous Friday. Also I explained that the one computer had been wiped out by their tech and I thought it had Win 7 home edition. I was sort of frustrated that we would loose a computer. She began to get the picture and said she was going to talk to her supervisor on Monday to check if they would send out licensed copy for they did have a few and she thought this would qualify because it was their mistake. Then she called back and said that she just received our order in the mail and would send out the disk immediately and would check about the other disk on Monday. So I felt a lot better.

Friday we set off to go to the Snowflake temple. First we stopped off at Hobbs Trading post. It was an old trading post established in the 1880's. It is still a working trading post. We went through the Mr Hobb's home which had all the original furniture in it. The home had been used clear up to 1960's. The walls were thick adobe and the roof was about 2 feet high. The house was very cool. I couldn't take any pictures inside because I couldn't remember how to turn off the flash. Out side were the old barns and things that they used. Most of it was just laying around. Then because Sister Howard had never been to the Petrified Forest we went again. After that we went to Snowflake and check in at the Cedar Inn. It wasn't the nicest place but it was the cheapest. Then we walked around the corner to a small diner which the same people ran and had a nice Chinese meal. The cook was owners wife from Taiwan. It was very good and light not made with any MSG.

Notice the holes in the rock. That was where someone lived |
Saturday we got up and went to breakfast and then to the temple. Where Willard and I did Sealings. I love the Sealings sessions because this is the culmination of all the work in the temple leads. It was great to be reminded of the power that is behind the promise of having families together forever.

Look over his shoulder and you can see how deep the canyon is |
After we were through we stopped at Walnut Canyon This was a very steep canyon that we could hike down and look at the places where these people lived in 1200 AD. Around trip there were about 600 steps to be walked. Well I wanted to hurry and Willard had to change his cloths so I started ahead. I didn't bother taking a look at the map very carefully, I thought I would just rely on the signs. Well I saw a sign indicating a loop so I thought the trail was going on. And then I started noticing that I had seen these before. Not being very smart I started walking around the loop again thinking that I would then catch up to Willard. But I never did. As I started back up I saw him way up the side of the mountain. He waited for me. I was so exhausted. After that I was ready to eat. We to eat at the Sizzler where missionaries get half off. It was so good. Then we set off to find a Walmart. Half an hour later we found it and go some stuff and headed home. We got home about 9:30 pm. What a full, fun and exhausting day.
Sunday, things are looking up. There were some good responses from the survey and I think the Newsletter sparked some interest. There were a lot of testimonies about doing family history work. There were many who indicated that they wanted help. Now to find out how many of them are really serious. Also, 1st wards new primary President which is only going to be there for a month, is willing to take charge and not let us run everything. Boy that is a relief! Afterward we ate dinner at the Howards and then came home. I am so tired and I know I will be so sore in the morning.
