11th week. 4/40 to 5/6

Not too much exciting happened the first part of the week.  Sister Howard and I went up to the church to exercise in the morning and worked in the family history center helping her with the indexing.  Baked bread and just helped with the gardening watching my strawberries blossom.  There are three blossoms already so I should have berries starting in a month. We will see.  Then Wednesday evening President Wayley knocked at my door to see when would be a good time for him to meet with me.  I sort of knew what he wanted to talk with me about so I invited him in.   He proceeded to asked me to be the Director of the Kayenta Family History Center.  I told him yes of course and then proceeded to tell him what I wanted to do at the family History Center and I think it blew him away.  I told him that my goal is to train two assistance so that when I left they would know what to do.  They don’t have a stake person or a high counselor over Family History.  No wonder Sister Wayne has such a hard time.  She had no one to train her.  He really thought that was a good idea.  And then I suddenly popped out and suggested Becky McCarty and Katherine Tosie.   I sort of gave him my plan of how to get family History going here in the area.  He thought they were all good ideas.

Then on Thrusday day I called Ray Jensen, the High Councilman in our stake that is over family history and asked about how to get the family indexing report and he emailed me a lot of information.  I now know how much I don’t know.  I really appreciated him so willing to help.  Also, I called Sister Poulsen, the Meridian East Stake Director and she pointed me to a great web site.   Boy do I have a lot to learn.  Later on that night we had a going away party for the Ziegler’s.  It was poorly attended but on the other hand the announcement for the party just went out that afternoon by the way of a cell phone text.

On Friday we went to Page to get my INR (that is how thin my blood is) and it wasn’t good.  It was 4.6 so I have to go back in 2 weeks to get it checked.  Good thing Becky McCarthy is going there for physical therapy.  I am going to catch a ride with her.  Sister Howard and I went shopping while Willard go the car fixed and Elder Howard went to the library.  We had a good time shopping and found some good deals.  We both bought a hat to wear out in the sun.  I got a few more blouses and a skirt.  Yes, Deborah, I am already getting tired of the cloths I brought and it is definitely getting warmer.
They were so tired
Saturday Nelle McCarty came over and we had a presidency meeting.  As we were talking  it occurred to me that the 1st ward counselors would really benefit from Nellie’s experience.  So I suggested that we combine the presidency meetings with 1st ward since Sister Howard and I are doing the same music in both wards.  She thought  that  it was a great idea.  The rest of the day was spent helping the Ziegler’s with their moving and working up at the church getting music already for primary and Sacrament. They are really a wonderful couple.  What an example of service they were to all that knew them
They left early in the morning
Sunday was interesting.  The 2nd ward primary went pretty smoothly.  We had decided to make wall hangings like we made last week for the girl baptism.   Instead of a scripture, I asked each child what they loved about their mother and next week we will make the wall hanging and put what they said below.  Then as I was playing for song practice, Bobby Baliey, came up to me that she didn’t know what she was going to do for sharing time.  I suggested that she do the same thing at the 1st ward art activity. So I did the same thing.  I was so busy with the 2nd ward that I missed the Parrish babies blessing. But I got a picture of him in his white suit.  He is so cute.

Right after primary President Waley said he would set me apart but he first had to speak to Kathrine Tosie.  So after primary, I ran into him with Becky and Kat.  He invited me into the room and we all three sat before him.  He is a person of a few words, and he said he would come right to the point and told them I had asked for them both to be my assistance and would they do it.  Becky calmly said yes, and Kat had to process it for a little bit and then answered yes with excitement.  They are both very excited and I know they both will do a great job.     Then after that I met with Sister Wayne to get the password and then ward Counsel and then went to the Howards to eat.  It was good to get back home by 7.  I had been on the run 10 hrs. So if this blog is a little disjointed, it is because I am really tired.   Ahh the Sabboth day, a day of rest.
