Willard's Birthday Party |
Monday was Willard’s birthday also tilling day for him and a cleaning day for me. He went and picked up James Tsosie and they went out to Nez’s and tilled their garden and then over to Sister Young’s and tilled hers. Then James fixed the other tiller rope that had come off. Thank goodness James helped him out. To say the least he was exhausted by the end of the day. I stayed home and washed and cleaned and made a desert and rolls for our get together over in Dennehotso. At five we went over to the employment office and picked up the Williams and the Ziegler’s and went to the Chapman’s in Dennehotso where the Harvey’s, that are in Chichinbito, had brought over a 30lb frozen turkey that they had raised and brought with them. When we got there is still wasn’t done and so we played a game of Balderdash which was quite fun. It is where you have to decide which definition is correct of the ones that are read. The leader gives the word and all of us right down a definition. Then they are all collected and she reads all the definition plus the right one. Then each person votes for the definition that they think is right. You get points if you guess the right one or other vote for yours. I pull out some good ones and won the game. We were getting pretty hunger by then and went over to their small new branch building and begun to eat. we had almost eaten everything by the time some of the turkey was done. Sister Chapman, said that it didn’t get done until about 9pm. We had a good time, and a lot of laughs. Trenton called us when we got back and other had left happy birthday wishes on Facebook. He loved the singing Happy Birthday of the Roger’s family. I think even though Willard had worked hard, he had a good birthday.
On Tuesday, I spent all day getting ready for the workshop. I just tried to get it more organized so that I could identify those participants that came and those I would need to call later on. Then I set up while, Willard worked on the tillers. The workshop was to start at 6 pm but we actually started at 6;30, which is typical Navajo time. Willard showed the new gardeners how to install the fencing and gave out fencing to those who had gotten their garden fertilized and tilled. The workshop went well. It seemed we had a whole other group but we at least we are getting started. We were concerned that the 3rd year gardeners couldn’t find the triple 16 fertilizer that was being giving to the 1st and 2nd years. Then Elder Seeley, when I called him, that phosphorus which is the middle number, stays in the soil. So when they use it for 2 years the soil then has enough phosphorus to sustain growth so they could use a 16-8-16 that is on the market. We definitely are learning something about gardening
Wednesday didn’t start out well. In the middle of my shower there was no more hot water: the water heater

Thelda and K@ |
had stopped working. Willard went and got fertilizer and went over to Sister Tom’s to deliver the manure. While he was there, I called the Nez’s to talk to her about some clothes that had been dropped off by Nellie McCarty. Thelda Nez, was glad that I had called because the puffs they were making to sale at the flea market kept falling. I knew they were doing something wrong, so she came over to pick me up. I discovered that he was only putting a half a cube of butter in it and wasn’t mixing it with a beater. I showed him how to make the puffs but then their gas oven was heating very hot and slightly burning the puffs. He scraped it off and just put the chocolate frosting over the dark parts. While they were making the cream puffs, I figured out her sewing machine which was a very nice new Singer. I fixed her 4 year old pants. He is heavy so he needs bigger pants and then they cut them off to fit his legs. He severely autistic and her 3 year old is only moderately autistic. I call them k1 and k2 because they have very strange names that I can’t say or spell. Thelda would really like to learn how to sew, so I had an idea to get some material for some skirts, so that Ralphelita and Thelda would have something to wear to church. They both want to learn how to sew and would like to have a skirt to wear to church. On Friday, I am going to look in the 2 Thrift stores for some tops. Neither one have any tops that would be appropriate for church. They both wear hooded sweatshirts with jeans. That is all they have.
When I got home I started to look up on the internet for free patterns. Then Thelda came to my door, giving me back my mixer that I had left at her home and her husband looked at the water heater to see if he could figure out what was wrong. Thelda had both the boys there. K1 wouldn’t come in the trailer but K2 did and I found a little movie on Netflix that kept him enthralled for 30 minutes. It was Jonah and the Whale and had all kinds of sea life in it and he just loved watching the sea life swim around. He just sat beside me, while his mom stayed outside with K1. I am going to see if I can get the password to the church internet, so that maybe we could get the children to stay in the nursery, so that their parents can listen at church.
While I was on the internet I decided to call around to see how much the tour’s were to Antelope Canyon. It is a really cool place where the rains had made all kinds of formations. Anyway, one place said it was $25 a piece and the next one said it was $35. I then asked if they had discounts for seniors. The price lowered a couple of dollars. Then I asked if they gave missionary discounts. He thought a bit and then said the price would be $6 a piece Then he said that we could even go on the 11.30 tour that was the best due to light. It was the best time of the day to go. I am so excited and feel really blessed to have that opportunity.
I also received a call from Dan Stephens, I told him I was surprised that he had heard about our heater problem so quickly. He was surprised because that wasn’t why he was calling. He wanted to know if we could get by with 2 tillers because Tuba was down to 1 tiller due to 2 of them had broken down. I told him we could probably get by with only 2 . He said he would be out to bet it and then look at our heater. He showed up after 7 and he couldn’t figure out what was wrong with the heater and took a tiller.

1st and 2nd ward Relief Society |
Thursday was a lazy day. Willard just gave out the two tillers and I looked for patterns for skirt and blouses. We put together a list of all the things we needed to get in to Page. That afternoon Willard mentioned that there were carpet cleaners at the church and then later on they came down to clean the other apartments and asked to use our water source. Our carpets were so dirty because they hadn’t been cleaned since it was recovered; I took the opportunity, asked them if they would clean our carpets. They said that they would be glad to do it. It just hadn’t been added to their calendar. I was thrilled. So now I have nice clean carpets. It is so nice. I am so grateful that I asked. While the carpet cleaning people were hear, we got a message from the missionaries that just got home from Tuba, that Dan wanted us to bring the switch plate to him so that he could take it to Flagstaff on Tuesday to find out what was wrong. We were going to take it to him on Friday on our way to Page, but then I found out that the carpet people were going to Tuba and they agreed to take it to him. I was so thankful for that small favor because it would take an extra 1 ½ hours to get to Page. The gas is now $3.94. It seems like goes up 3 to 4 cents every other day.
That night was the Relief Society Birthday Party that both wards attended and invited the husbands. It was really nice and they had a nice turn out. Jeremy, from the hill, made the cake and it was delicious.

A piece of Wood caught in Rock |
Friday, was quite an adventure. We first had to take over a tiller to Doris Cly’s before we went to Page. We got to Page a little after 9 and since my appointment wasn’t until 10, we stopped to have the oil changed. Then I went to have my INR done which took about 10 min. Then we had a little time to shop for Rothalita and Thelda. I found 2 blouses at Sharps and then when on to the Antelope Canyon tour. It was really neat. I got a lot of pictures but I sure wished I had a better camera. I thought of Andy and how he would have just loved taking pictures there. It was so amazing to the different formations. There was even a piece of petrified wood that had gotten stuck in the sand. As I got to the end of the tour a nice guide was showing me how to change the brightness settings and took some pictures of us but then it was too dark. It definitely was an experience that I will never forget.

My Favorite pictur |
Then we went to a BBQ place for lunch and had visited with a couple that was on our tour that we sat next to. They were from Florida and were traveling the county. After lunch we went to the thrift story. It was our lucky day because everything was half off. So I got some really nice shirts for a dollar a piece and found some sheets just the right color for some skirts. I hope the girls will be happy with them. We made it home by 7.30 and went to pick up a tiller at Doris’s home but she wasn’t finished so Willard had to go back later to get it. I put the new padding on the bed in hopes that it would make it a little more comfortable. I feel asleep on it exhausted but happy.
Saturday, I woke up early to heat up the water for our baths in our tiny shower. At least I can sit down in it barely but Willard has to stand up and pour water over himself but at least we can get clean. Then I went over to the Ziegler where I taught Sister Ziegler and Sister William’s how to make my Whole Wheat Potato Bread. We made two loaves and then two pizza rolls for lunch after the first session on conference and some cinnamon rolls for desert. I took the pizza rolls up to bake at the church and watched conference up there. I especially liked President Erying talk about trials. He said that great blessing will come from adversity and that trials will polish us. I had to remember that when I came out of the trailer tonight and I heard a hissing noise and discovered the gas was leaking. I quickly turned it off. At least life isn’t dull. Also Bishop Axline asked Sisters Ziegler and Williams to sing for next Sunday and I will play for them. So I have some practicing to do

Ralphelita in her favorite shirt |
While the men went to priesthood we three ladies took the cloths over to the girls. Ralphelita was pleased with them and then she began to show me some cloths that someone had given her to. Sister Williams, really has an eye putting outfits together. With all the cloths she has now she will have quite the wardrobe after we get through shortening and altering them. I am going to try to get one outfit done this week so she will have something for Easter. Then we went to Thelda’s. I think she was excited about the cloths and then Sister Williams thought that some of her skirts that she had would fit her. We are going to work on it next week. Interesting thing was that as we were standing there, K1 started buttoning Sister William Jacket, and then he started on Sister Zieglers. He was perfectly calm and I guess he has discovered buttoning and zipping. We are going to try to help them with the boys tomorrow at conference.

Us with Bishop Axline |
Sunday the Nez family didn’t come but that was a good thing because I couldn’t get on the internet. I really enjoyed President Uchtodrf talk about the cancer of bitterness and judging others. I liked the bumper sticker he shared. He said he saw it on a ruff looking characters car it said” Don’t judge me just because I sin differently that you do!” He admonished us to forgive others as we need to be forgiven. The ways it is accomplished is fill our heart with Christ like love and STOP IT; he said that several different time.
At the rest hymn I went home quickly to make some potato soup. I just felt impressed that I needed to do it. When conference was over, we went over to the Williams and the missionaries joined us and we had a good lunch.

My collection of Indian Jewlery |
After the afternoon section, we girls practice the song and then went over to Sister Williams because she had received quite a lot of jewelry from a fellow in Cuba AZ and she wanted to share it with us. So I got a brown stone necklace and 2 stones that can be put on a chain and some earrings. Here is a picture of my collection of all my jewelry that I have collected so far.
