August 14, 2011

Where does the time go when you are having fun! I don't know but this week was good week. Worked in the garden, practiced with the group, wrote the script, figured out what I am doing for Christmas and started on the project, indexed over 202 names and tried out a new recipe called Alfred Spaghetti Squash , which was good.

Wednesday after Visiting Teaching, I brought Cody, Hailey and Joe over to play. They had a good time playing sword, Wii, going down the slip and slide and just goofing off. Also we heard from Joe that he is being let go from the Air Force because of his shoulder. We are excited because maybe he can find a job out here in the west.

Thursday I learned something when I was helping Suzanne. I had imputed some of her birthday's using the French Revolutionary Calendar. Just to explain the French Republican calendar (also known as the Revolutionary calendar) was introduced during the French Revolution to replace the Gregorian calendar and begin a new era. The calendar was based on scientific rather than Christian principles. This calendar was used for twelve years, from 24 October 1793 to 31 December 1805. Anyway, I decided that I really needed to enter them with the Gregorian calendar date. So I called Salt Lake and asked them if they could give me some direction. They transferred me to the history department and I asked my question. The helper had never heard of such a calendar and she referred me to the self help Wiki page using the family search. This is the address, https://wiki.familysearch.org/en/French_Republican_Calendar. She was excited because she had learned something new about the French Revolution.

Saturday was our 43rd Wedding anniversary. I can't think of another man that would have been perfect for me. He is the stabilizing force in my life. He is my ying to my yang. When I look back, I can see that the Lord certainly directed me to him and he brings out the best in me eventually. I am so thankful for his kind and loving support in all that I do. He is wonderful!!!!! Anyway, we went up to McCall for the day. It was a lovely drive. We took a little detour to go look at the Veterans Cemetery, that was behind Dry Creek Cemetery. The road was closed by I liked the area. It would be a great place to be buried. We stopped along the way to take some pictures of the mighty river out on some rocks in the river. I lost my glasses and Willard gallantly went down to look for them and found them. (MY HERO!) Then we stopped at Smith Ferry, where they were having a Huckleberry Day Celebration. We stopped and looked at the stuff and antiques. We didn't stay for the parade. We traveled on to McCall and stopped by the Shore Lodge. I had actually stayed there when I was a girl with some other camp councilors when I was working at the YMCA Camp. They were having a boat show, so we enjoyed looking at all the yachts and boats of the upper crust.

After that we went to Ponderosa State Park and drove up the peninsula. It was beautiful up at the point and to look over the lake. On the way back down, we stopped at one of the day camping spots that we thought would be a great place for a family reunion for a day. It has a great beach and the sitting by the beach was in the shade. It has bbq pits, picnic tables and a most important bathrooms near by. Families were riding their bikes and there are great hiking trails. For those who want to camp there is a camp ground close by. We both loved the spot. Now we just have to find a date for next year that people would be able to come.

After that we walked around McCall and found more things that we could have done but it was to late. So now we know and we plan on going back up. It was a great day and we topped it off at dinner at Goodwoods.

When we got home we had 3 messages telling us about a special meeting at 2:30 at the Stake Center. We had heard it the pervious night after we got home from eating at Nancy Cotters for dinner group. On our way home we say Gary Andrew and we asked him about it and he said that he had heard that the Cloverdale Wardwas being moved to another stake. Well it was true, our ward stayed the same but are now in the Meridian East Stake and we will be meeting at 1:pm at the Ustick chapel off Cloverdale. I am so happy.
