May 1, 2011

I love May. I love all the spring flowers that are blooming. Spring is so refreshing with the earth waking up from a long sleep.

This week has been a productive week. At work the first two days were slow and I took greentime for just hour of the day and then on Wednesday I reported for jury duty.

Now that was an experience. I was to report at 11:30 at the Ada county court house. I got there checked in with the rest of 302 people that were called. None of us understood why there were so many called. We thought maybe they were impaneling several juries from our pool but that wasn't the case. Around 1:00 pm the judge finally arrived and told us about the case of which I can only say it is a big murder case, that we were all impaneled for. Then they proceeded to pass out this very thick questionnaire for us to fill out which took me about 2 hours. Then on May 6, they will call us if they are going to excuse us or if we don't get a call we will have to come in for further questioning. From those the jury will be selected. The trial will last 6 weeks. I don't think I will be selected because I put down I didn't want to be on the jury due to financial hardship that it would cause on the family.

When I got home on Wednesday I started on Amelia's blessing dress and finished it on Thursday night. I had to do some variations on how to put it together because I wanted to use the bottom Eyelet pattern also on the bodice and the sleeves. I was happy with the way it turned out. The pattern had the skirt very long and I liked the elegant but simple look of the dress.

Thursday morning we woke up to the new of the devastating tornadoes in the south. It had a great impact on Directv because our facilities in Huntsville and Birmingham were closed and which here in Boise we had to pick up the all the burden of those call centers. They asked us to do overtime to help out. I worked 2 1/2 hours on Thursday and 1 hr on Friday and we were paid a $5 extra an hour. Not bad, because there were so many that were doing overtime that there were usually 50 to 100 in availability. I also helped my save rate because the last week because so many people had cancelled that they came out with new discounts and told us that wanted us to save them, so we could through money and credits at them to get them to stay. Consequently, my credits were really bad but I only disconnected 3 out of probably 20 calls, so I know I will end up in the yellow, which meets goal.

On Friday night, we took Brittney, Maddy and her friend Jaylynn out to Primo's Pizza and then to the Music Week production of "Bye Bye Birdie" We had fun and really enjoyed to production. Of course, it was really well done. I loved that the actors moved around the props.

Saturday we went to Cody's football game. It was cold and windy but Cody did a good job as quarterback. He also caught a pass. He certainly has improved over the last year. After the game we went shopping and got some more plants and I fully intended to plant them yesterday but I just ran out of steam and watched TV. Now I am raring to go.
