September 5, 2010

This week was a good week. I felt I got a lot done. First I got two "ones" on my QA so that was great and I ended up with really good stats. So that was a load off my shoulders.

Then on Monday we went over to Trenton's for his birthday and for Family Home Evening. It went well I thought and least no one blew up. We taught a lesson on the blessings of obedience. We gave Trenton some rolls of quarters and when the children were obedient they would get a quarter but if they didn't they would loose the opportunity for a quarter. Well Amber, has seen the value of work and obedience. The boys haven't yet seen the light but we are hoping that Ambers good example and the money that she has earned will show them that obedience does pay off.

On Tuesday I went to the Relief Society Auction. I donated 3 loaves of wheat bread, 2 pints of blackberry jam, a crotched bonnet, and a month's worth of Piano lessons. They sold each loaf separately, and they went for a lot of tickets I can't remember how many. A gal in the ward really wanted a Bonnet so she saved all her tickets. Her baby had almost outgrown the newborn bonnets so I am busily making a larger one with a different pattern. Darcy Richard also got the piano lessons for her 6 year old son. So I just have to find a time for him.

But the saddest part was that I found out there that Marie Chancy's (my visiting teaching partner) husband died the night before. I guess Marie went out to check on him that evening and he had passed away in his chair. He really hadn't even been sick, so it was a real shock to Marie. On Saturday we went to his funeral. I decided that going to the funeral was more important than doing the forced overtime at DTV. I will probably have to make it up in two weekends.

Then on Friday we had Kathy and Darr Haney over for dinner. Kathy brought some of genealogy books that she has done. We talked family history and scanned documents about Charles McClellen, John McClellen son who had been murdered by his neighbors some say it was for his land other indicate it was over a woman. They were documents concerning land deeds about his land after his death. Then the best part is that now I have a picture of John McClellen that Kathy shared with me. He has always been a special grandfather to me. He was such and adventurer. We had a good visit and learned a lot but I feel I hardly touched the surface.

I finally got the Christmas program done. I am really excited about the numbers and the narration but it is a little long and I just don't know what I need to cut out. I have been listening to The Life of Christ: Gloria by Lex De Azeveo". It is such inspiring music and I really wanted to find the music to "My Soul Doth Magnify the Lord" but he hasn't published the music. I love the music and how he brings the scriptures alive with the music.

On Wednesday, I had a idea to stop in at Nancy's so I could get a copy of the choir music because I needed to remember what Heidi the choir director had picked out. Well I found out she has a whole set of hand held bells and world opened up with the possibilities. The program that I came up with is the opening song is a combination of "Joy to the World and Ding dong Merrily on High" of which I am going to add the bells there intimately. Then a double quartet singing "For unto us A child is Born". After that a solo of "And Mary Pondered " and then and an instrumental of " Far Far away on Judea Plains". Then " Night of all Nights" by the choir followed by "Silent Night and Away in a manger" a Bell duet, then "Sleep Little Jesus" by the Choir. Then the big finish with a piano and Organ duet of Hallelujah Chorus followed the "Oh, Come, All Ye Faithful" with the choir and congregation. It never ceases to amaze me that the Lord blesses me with inspiration when I ask for His help. The Lord does qualify those He calls. I am so grateful for all of His help because I am nothing without it.

Maddy, Davis and Joe rode their bikes over this afternoon and they had Zucchini bread, picked and eat blackberries and raspberries. Then pulled some carrots and eat them. So they had a completely nutritious snake from all food groups. Then we played "Imagine If". It was fun playing with the kids. I am so glad they came over. It really was appreciated.

Oh I do have to put in a picture of my dinner plate Dahlia. It is so beautiful and I never thought it would come out that big!
