This has been quite a week. On Tuesday, we worked at the polls all day with Inger and Steve Bishop. They are some friends that we have known since we lived in CA. We were in the Los Gatos ward together. They moved to Boise right after we did and just lived across the freeway from us. We thought it would be not very busy but it we did 313 ballots. My job is to announce that So and So has voted. Willard made sure that they were in the book and had them sign. It was a long day, but certainly good to get away from the phones.
My save rate was sitting about 72.5% by the end of Monday so I really needed some good days on Wednesday and Thursday. I think I might have pulled it up to 73%. Now I just have to get by tomorrow with at least ending up with above 71% to not get on a path.
Friday morning we went to see my friend Helen, the butterfly lady, who had just moved in to a retirement center. She just turned 95 in February. She was a lady that I had met in the Ogden Mall about 11 years ago. I tried to stop her and she just waved me off, like all the people did, but then she came back later on to apologize for being so short with me. Then she explained that she had just been told that her dear husband only had 6 months to live. She took such good care of him that it took him 2 years to die. She is such a great example to me. We became dear friends. She and I have a lot in common. We both love music and taught children music in primary. She is a real go getter. I laugh because she just feel she doesn't belong there in the rest home with all these old people.
Then we went to see Bonnie Sheldon. She was over at her daughter Misty to help her pack because she was moving to Arizona where Ben her husband got a job. In fact, her youngest son Matt with his new bride got a job at the same place. Evidently, they are getting a house together. Marcus, is starting his kemo and radiation treatments, but she did say that the cancer was terminal. It was good to see Bonnie and catch up with the family news.
Then we went to the Mall and saw some old friends the Croft that I always talked to when they walked the mall. Then we went to our old office that is now a used book store. Every little space was used for books. They had a great selection of used LDS books so I got some. One the way home Jacob got a call from Taco Time, telling him that he had a job. He starts on Tuesday working 11 to 2:30. He also go another job working at the school in July.
That evening we had a nice barbeque. Ben is an excellent cook outside and inside. Holly has decorated their home with such taste. I love the colors she choose and how it flows. She has a great eye. Late that night Holly took me to a great crafts store. I loved it. It was much nicer than any I have been in. We got materials to make a beaded necklace. She was very patient with me as I struggled to find the wholes in the beads. I am looking forward to finishing it.
Willard was playing with Toby, and asked him to lay down and roll over. To his surprise, he did just that. Ben and Holly had gotten the dog from a shelter and they didn't know he knew any tricks. Later, Ben found out that he even knew how to shake.
All in all it was a great trip and it was good to see everyone and renew friendships and strengthen relationships.
