This Monday finally we had the dinner group over. We had a lovely time. Such great people. Going around the table starting on the right are the Gary and Merilee Andrews. Gary and Tobin went to school together. Merilee hung around Todd Spanbour. Then Becky and Scott Gibson Becky's dad was Don Johnson who was my Principal at Capital. Then LeDara Greenland who is the mother of the Kim and his wife Sheryl Blake. We really had fun getting to know each other. Willard gave a family home evening lesson on Jesus being the bread of life, and I gave each a little loaf of bread and CD of the conference music.

The rest of the week, I worked on getting ready for the piano recital. Making CD's of the songs that they recorded and making certificates for each. Then I had the brilliant idea to offer trophies if they performed a song in each of the 4 periods of music. I decided on 4 trophies. 1st. is the Excellent Musician Award; Student must perform 4 memorized piano selections from each of the four periods of music. 2nd award would be Superior Musician Award. 1. Student must perform 4 memorized piano selections from each of the four periods of music.2.Give a brief history of the composer. 3rd is Master Musician Award. They would do the same thing and Superior but add Tell how the music has the characteristics of the period. The 4th award would be a Music Service Award a; where they would 1. Give 25 hours of music service. (School, family, church)
2. Perform or accompany 8 hymns 2 from each period of music.3. Share something about the composer. At the recital they were pretty receptive to it.

Saturday morning I went to the temple. Dad was having a headache attack. It was so nice to go where it is so calm and peaceful. As I was going into the dressing rooms, my best friend Gaylene Steel Elsworth was coming out. It was so good to talk to her and visit with her. I saw her sister Stephanie a couple of weeks before and they both look so much like their mother Lilly. I guess we do become more like are mothers as we age.

That evening we went to see Hailey dance. She did such a great job. She defiantly was one of the children that knew the dance. She just beams she is on stage. She is really in her element. Then we tried out a new eating place called the BQ pit. Not bad ribs.
Of course, today was the big recital and all the kids did well. No disastrous mistakes. They really are some very talented children. It is really a pleasure to teach each one and see how far they have come. I feel so blessed to be able to teach music to such wonderful children.
I am looking forward to this week. Tuesday, Willard and I are working the polls at Taft with the Steve and Inger Bishop and then on Thursday we are going to Ben's. It will be good to visit with them and see some old friends.
It will just be good to get away from work. I just hope I don't have a repeat of last week.
