January 8, 2012

This post is a little different.  I wrote each day of what I was thankful for.

 January 1, 2012

To day I am just grateful for the knowledge that I have that there is a Heavenly Father.  I have never doubted that He existed and always knew He was there. As a young child, I didn't feel like I had a father that I could turn to for love and support so my Heavenly Father was the one I turned to.  I am grateful for that circumstance in my life for that knowledge has gotten me through the tough times.

I am also grateful that the Lord provided someone to rent our home. At church Terri Griffen told me that Melissa Neibaur's mother was looking for a place to rent.  She had been living with her daughter and helping her with Kaylee who is handicapped.  I called Melissa and they came over.  She liked what she saw and was please with the offer off $200 plus utilities and she takes care of the lawn.  She agreed.  It was a blessing to her because she will be close to her daughter to help and she can also use the other bedroom for her massage table and have clients come here which will save her money.  She thought the timing was perfect.  I also don't have to move out just clean out some dressers and our closet.  So the Lord has blessed us all.

I am so thankful that we have a prophet of God here on earth.  I loved the counsel President Monson gave in the Ensign.  He gave the ABC's for Living the Abundant LifeA is for attitude. "We can’t direct the wind, but we can adjust the sails. For maximum happiness, peace, and contentment, may we choose a positive attitude. B is for believe—in yourself, in those around you, and in eternal principles. C is for courage. Courage becomes a worthwhile and meaningful virtue when it is regarded not so much as a willingness to die manfully but as a determination to live decently." I thought it was great advice.

I was so grateful for the Lords assistance in just help with managing our money.  Willard showed me something on our Verizon Bill and it looked like I would be loosing my lifetime charge on the internet.  When I called them they assured me that my internet would stay the same and then I found that we could safe $10 if we bundled with Verizon.  I quickly agreed.   Then I proceeded to help Willard get on line to set up for paperless billing.  That was quite an accomplishment because he has been fighting me on that for years.  Going on this mission is a blessing in so many ways already.

I am grateful for the missionaries and their willingness to service the Lord.  We had the missionaries over for dinner and they had  such a sweet spirit and loved serving the Lord.

I am so grateful that I could crochet all day and my hands didn't give out.  I only have 6 1/2 rows to go!  I hope my hands aren't sore tomorrow.

My hands aren't sore! I am so thankful that I was able to finish the blanket last night.
My new hair cut

I am also so thankful that Rosalee Hunter came over  and cut my hair and fixed my wigs so they looked decent. Rosalee is a retired hairdresser, so I really appreciate her thoughtfulness and time coming to work on my hair.  It took us 4 hours to just do all the cutting. She is great!

After updating my family tree, I was so grateful for such a beautiful family.   I put the oldest at the top this time because that is the way the family will grow.
My Family Tree Updated
I am so thankful for Nancy Cotter.  She is such a wonderful friend and really fun to go out with.  She took me to "My Fair Lady".  It was so much fun to hear the music again and to see such wonderful staging. I love the music. It is so uplifting.

My newly Colored Hair
I am so thankful for Deborah and for her time.  She came over and highlighted my hair and then helped me to decided on the cloths I needed to take.  She is amazing.  She took what I was considering and cut it way down. She also showed me the  Pinterest web sight and got me signed up.  I think it will be very useful.  I am so grateful for all of her help.

I am also grateful for great friends like Steve and Inger Bishop.  We went to get our wills signed and we were informed that we needed to provide 2 witnesses.  So Steve and Inger came to the bank and we finally got the wills done and then we went out to eat at Soup and Salad. Afterwards, we came to our house and played Rummikub. We enjoyed our time together.  They are putting their papers in this week to go on a mission.  Inger is so thoughtful. She invited us over for dinner the night before we leave which will be much appreciated.

Plastic bag tote
Today I am thankful for creative people who can think up patterns to crochet.  I have yarn left from baby blankets and wanted to find a shawl pattern that might look nice and would be versatile.   I found some great looking shawls and started one and I am about half way done.  I am also thankful that the Lord has blessed my hands so that I can keep crocheting. I even finished my plastic bag tote.  I was quite pleased with it. It will be able to hold quite a lot.

I am thankful today that it is Fast Sunday.  There were so many great testimonies that were give and miracles that happened last month were shared.  Such as Sister Bower related that was paying down her hospital bill and telling the teller how she had lost her job.  When she got home, she got a call from the teller telling her that the person behind her, had over heard her story and had paid a considerable amount on her bill which was a real blessing to her.  I love hearing stories like the ones that were shared because it testifies that there is a God and He is mindful of his children and will always support them if they have faith in him.

I am also thankful that I got to talk to Sarah, Joe and wish Aries a Happy Birthday.  She has gotten so big.  I am really looking forward to seeing them all in 10 more days!
